The Institute of Physical Chemistry Rocasolano (IQFR) has its roots in the Instituto Nacional de Física y Química of the Junta de Ampliación de Estudios en Investigaciones Científica (JAE), whose original building is now the site of the IQFR. This building, which opened in 1932 was built thanks to a generous contribution from the Rockefeller Foundation, and was a privileged witness of one of the most creative periods of the Spanish Science. Well known researchers such as Blas Cabrera, Miguel Catalá, Enrique Moles or Julio Palacios carried out a significant portion of their research activities in the premises of the Rockefeller building.
